WHAT’S IN YOUR PASSPORT?

3/16/2015

The saying “you will never know until you try”, stands true for everyday life situations, goals, dreams, decisions that we try and learn lessons from. Yet we can’t afford to try certain things in order to know or learn..

When I think of travelling and my passport in specific, I tend to gravitate towards checking one thing; expiration date. I had no idea that there was much more to it than the expiration date. Only to have learned after booking a vacation and arriving at my destination, that I was denied entry. Reason being my passport didn’t have 6 months validity from the date of my arrival. In my case I learned the hard way and it wasn’t a pleasant experience at all. I was under the impression that since my passport was still valid there was no issue and that going through immigration would be the same common procedure from past experiences. I was obviously wrong.

If your passport expires within 6 months of your arrival date to certain countries you will be denied entry or even departure. These countries include Belgium, Ecuador, Thailand, India, Tunisia, Singapore, Paraguay, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Israel, and Romania among others.

Other countries enforce a 3 months rule, like Switzerland, New Zealand, Denmark, South Africa and more.  Lesson 3, numerous countries require only a valid passport for the duration of your stay. Like France, Spain, UK, Greece, Kenya, Tanzania and a few others.  US citizens need only a valid passport to enter Canada, Mexico, and Bahamas.

Additionally, other crucial things to learn that pertain to your passport will follow in our next blog.

Second Passport : A solution to international travelers

3/4/2013

A Second Passport can sometimes prove to be a necessity to frequent international travelers.  The US Department of State will issue a second passport, valid for only 2 years, provided that you have a valid request. It allows the passport holder to travel on one passport while visas are being processed in the second passport.

Example:
You are  scheduled to travel to Europe for 2 weeks.  Upon your arrival back to the US you will immediately depart to  China. A second passport will allow you to carry your 10 year passport on the first trip while we are processing the Chinese visa on the second passport.

Did you know that some countries refuse entry if a passport is stamped from certain countries.  A second valid passport is a perfect solution to this problem.

Side Note:  The US Department of State approves the issuance of a second passport on a case-by-case basis.  You must have a valid and honest reason for your request.  The loss of your passports must be reported immediately.

Check out our Second Passport page for instructions on how to apply:       Second Passport
