TOURIST- US and Non-US Citizens
1. Valid and Signed Passport Passport must have one blank visa page and be valid 6 months beyond stay.
- Amendment pages in the back of the passport are not suitable for visas |
2. Photographs
Two recent passport type photos, in color, on photo paper, front view and with a white background - Size 2x2 - Glasses may not be worn on photographs |
3. Visa Application Form
Two(2) visa applications must be sent- (Original signature plus one copy) - Applications not completed properly may cause a delay in the issuance of the visa -Please do not leave any field blank and answer each question in detail - If a field is not applicable- put N/A or None Follow the link to complete the online form: Indian Visa Application - Print the application and sign inside the box at the top. -APPLICATION WILL BE REJECTED IF HANDWRITTEN NOTES ARE ON THE APPLICATION. You must select the jurisdiction based on your place of residence. Passport will be delivered to address on your "proof of jurisdiction Number 5 on this checklist. |
4. Travel Itinerary
Itinerary from airline or travel agency indicating the following - Applicants Name - Dates of travel(to and from country) It is recommended that tickets not be purchased or confirmed until the visa has been issued. |
5. Proof of Jurisdiction
Options to satisfy this requirement: 1. Clear copy of driver's license or state identification OR 2. Utility Bill with applicants name and address on it. (telephone, cable, or cell phone bill NOT acceptable) OR 3. Lease agreement signed by both landlord and applicant If applying in San Francisco a copy of the state ID or Drivers License must also be included when submitting a utility bill as proof of address If applying in New York and using a Utility bill, the original utility bill is required. Address on proof of jurisdiction must match address on application. |

NEXT STEPS........
1. Gather the passport, documents, and send them to us via UPS, DHL, or FEDEX. (We recommend a courier that allows you to track the package).
2. Once we receive the package, we will verify the documents and submit them to the appropriate Consulate. (Should we need any additional clarification or documents, you can be sure that we will contact you). |
Individual Consular Requirements and Notes
All Jurisdictions
- Non US Citizens and Naturalized US Citizens will have a minimum processing time of 1-2 weeks.
- Travelers must leave India on or before the expiration of their visa. Travelers who remain in India beyond the validity of their visa could face detention and significant penalties. If your intended length of stay in India exceeds the validity of your existing visa, you must apply for a new visa.
-The Indian Government is extremely selective in issuing 5 or 10 year visas. If you apply for a 5 or 10 year visa and Consulate issues a lesser validity, the Consulate will not refund the difference.
Minors
- A copy of the child's birth certificate and a copy of both parent's signed passports must be submitted. On page 2 of the visa application, both parents must sign and signatures must be individually NOTARIZED.
- On page 1 on the top right hand corner, the minor must print their name inside the box or if the child is too young to write their name, a thumbprint must be stamped.

- As a general rule, each Consulate has the right to request more documents or request an in-person interview. The validity of the visa is the sole discretion of the Consulate. Due to unexpected backlogs the Consulate may increase their processing time without notice. Certain nationalities or passport holders may result in additional processing time, this is determined by the Consulate.
